Dokus vs DigiBoox

The choice is who does the books. DigiBoox lets the self-employed keep their own books and prepare their own VAT return. Dokus keeps the documents and payments in order for the accountant who does that.

  • Payments matched to invoices with the reason shown: clear ones confirm themselves, the rest you confirm
  • Free to start, and your accountant’s access costs nothing

The differences that matter

A suggested match, and the reason for it

When a payment fits an invoice on amount and date but does not say who paid, Dokus shows why it suggests the match, and nothing is settled until you confirm it.

Switching, and what Dokus does not do

If you move to Dokus

  1. 1Keep your DigiBoox history where it is. DigiBoox exports its overviews to Excel; keep a copy for your accountant. Dokus does not import it.
  2. 2Start Dokus Free. Forward invoices by email or upload them, and import your bank statements as CSV or PDF.
  3. 3Move your Peppol registration to Dokus. A business is registered with one Peppol access point at a time.
  4. 4Invite your accountant. Their access is free.

What Dokus does not do

  • Dokus does not prepare or file VAT returns, and it is not a bookkeeping ledger. If you keep your own books, DigiBoox covers more of that job.
  • Dokus does not make quotes, send payment reminders or track hours and mileage.
  • Dokus does not import records from DigiBoox or any other tool. It starts from the documents and statements you add.
  • Statements import as CSV or PDF. CODA files are not accepted.

Questions

Does Dokus replace my accountant?
No. Your accountant validates and files. Dokus keeps the documents, payments and Peppol invoices behind that work complete and in one place. DigiBoox is built so the self-employed can keep their own books.
Is Peppol included in DigiBoox’s free plan?
No. DigiBoox’s pricing page lists Peppol sending and receiving on Compleet, €15 a month excl. VAT on the yearly plan, and not on the free Facturatie plan. On Dokus, Peppol sending and receiving is on Free, without a limit.
I run a company. Is DigiBoox an option?
DigiBoox’s pages describe it for the self-employed and relatively small businesses; they do not say whether a BV can use it, so ask DigiBoox. Dokus works for companies and sole proprietorships alike.

Free is €0, with no card. Core is €29 a month excl. VAT, billed from the day you start.
